AIthena presented at IRU meeting in Brussels

On 18 September 2024, Oihana Otaegui (Vicomtech), AIthena project coordinator, presented AIthena at the IRU Commission on Technical Affairs (CIT) meeting in Brussels. This meeting brought together IRU members to discuss the future of mobility.

The CIT is instrumental in formulating recommendations to improve the safety and efficiency of freight and passenger transport. Key discussions focused on AI regulations, EU and global technical updates and the decarbonisation of heavy-duty vehicles through the IRU Green Compact.

Oihana Otaegui gave a comprehensive presentation on the progress of AIthena. She highlighted the results of the first testing cycle of the project’s use cases and outlined the next steps.

The presentation demonstrated how AIthena is driving progress in road transport by prioritising safety, efficiency and sustainability, and focused on the methodology developed to ensure that AI-driven systems meet the highest standards of trustworthiness and performance, delivering tangible benefits to all stakeholders.
